For those who know me, have followed the 5 Senses TourĀ®, and/or have traveled with us, you know that my vision, goal, and passion have been to build bridges and find common ground. Full disclosure, today I am struggling ... but not giving up! These are pictures that give me hope and maybe, if I share, it may offer others hope and a different reality than what the news or extremism wants us to see.
Israeli Arabs and Jews collecting and sorting goods to be delivered around the country
Druze people bring food to Israeli soldiers protecting the northern border, where a lot of the Druze community live. The Druze serve in the army as well.
Muslim and Jewish women loading boxes for delivery to those in need
Druze factory sewing for soldiers' uniforms
There is a collective pain that Golda Meir so eloquently spoke about in 1973:
āWhen peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.ā
ā Golda Meir, A Land of Our Own: An Oral Autobiography
Praying for the families of the hostages to be reunited with their loved ones and for the safety of our soldiers
Praying for the people of Gaza, who choose peace, to turn their fight towards a life of hope, peace, and self-determination for themselves and their families. Welcoming new leadership to invest in a future of goodness, prosperity, and peace.
sometime near the beginning of January
actual volunteer work will be dependent on what is needed at the time
accommodations will be very basic - depending on where we are, how many we are
everyone will be responsible for their own flights
depending on how many people join, I will organize the transportation and accommodations
this will be a trip for those who want to get their "hands dirty" to help in whatever capacity is needed - agriculture, support in kitchens, etc.
all expenses will be covered by us, the volunteers
everyone understands the inherent risks of choosing to go to volunteer during this time
