Since being here in January, everything has changed and nothing has changed!
This country is a study of how one continues "life" while carrying the heavy anchor of pain and loss with you each day. The contradiction of walking on the sidewalk and seeing the sign of BRING THEM HOME, the posters of the hostages, the pain of the soldiers and civilians lost, and then ... the beaches are full, the restaurants are booked and the bar scene has returned.
With that, if you speak the language, you can't 10 steps without hearing people talking about the political situation, wanting the hostages home, the desperation of wanting better.
Everyone carries the heavy anchor of pain yet they seem to park it right next to the bike rack at the beach, on the street before they enter the restaurant or bar to have a little respite from the overwhelming weight of this nightmare. Never to be forgotten, the anchor is then reconnected and carried with them as they go about their lives.
However, pictures speak louder than words and this is also the real life in Israel. We have problems, we hope for better days but the determination to survive is unwavering. In the end, life continues here somehow. Muslims, Jews, and Druze live together. Just a few photos from this morning. Nothing has changed but everything has changed!
On the promenade in Jaffa ...

2 Israeli Muslim women on the left (one in a hijab and the other modern dressed) next to 2 Israeli Jewish women having coffee. Note the Israeli flag in the water. This is the life you don't see on TV!

Directly across the water is a Mosque and the gentleman resting on the steps is an Arab Israeli. This is the traditional sink for cleaning before prayers.

Here is the Mosque and the sign ...

Preserving the history of the Mosque...

And just couldn't help but share a little bit of beauty as I made my way back to the apartment!
PRAYING FOR BETTER DAYS!
PRAYING FOR THE RETURN OF ALL OF THE HOSTAGES!
PRAYING FOR PEACE FOR ALL OF THOSE THAT TRULY WANT THAT ...
